Our December 2026 Guatemala Trip Link:
Join Travel Light for an unforgettable group adventure in Guatemala, where colorful culture, colonial charm, and volcanic landscapes await.
Fly into Guatemala City before meeting the group in the enchanting town of Antigua, known for its cobblestone streets, vibrant markets, and crumbling baroque churches framed by towering volcanoes. After a welcome dinner with the group, we’ll explore the town’s rich history and visit a local coffee farm to learn how some of the world’s best beans are grown and roasted.
Then it’s time for the main event: a bucket-list overnight hike up Volcán Acatenango. We’ll ascend to our high camp with views of Volcán Fuego, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. If we're lucky, we’ll witness fiery eruptions under the stars. After our descent, we’ll enjoy a final day to unwind and celebrate before heading home refreshed and inspired.
Fitness Level Required: We recommend this trip for people in good health. If you have heart, respiratory, or other medical conditions, please consult your doctor before booking. The volcano climb is physically demanding and reaches an altitude of 13,000 feet.

Why Antigua?
Charming and soaked in history, Antigua dazzles with its cobbled streets, colorful colonial architecture, and dramatic volcanic backdrops. Surrounded by three volcanoes—Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango—it’s a cultural and visual feast at every turn.
Meals Included: D
Morning: Enjoy a full-day cooking & coffee in San Miguel Escobar (just south of Antigua), hosted by a local coffee cooperative. Begin by preparing the traditional Guatemalan stew Pepián with a local family—an authentic cultural exchange.
Afternoon: Wander through coffee fields, meet small-scale coffee producers, and follow every step—from bean to brew. Cap off with a freshly roasted and grounded cup, right in their home.
Why this tour matters:
Coffee isn’t just a drink—it’s a global ritual that often overlooks the people who grow it. Guatemala's coffee legacy spans back to the late 1800s and continues to be a crucial export. The majority of its 125,000 farmers are smallholders—hidden heroes often vulnerable to unstable prices and climate threats. De La Gente is transforming that narrative through ethical trade, support, and immersive tourism.
This tour will last approximately 7 hours. The rest of the evening is yours to explore.
Meals Included: B, L
Morning: Depart Antigua for San José Calderas, our gateway into the wilderness of Acatenango. Here, we will meet our trekking guides, a family-run outfit founded by local expert Elvin Soy—an INGUAT-certified guide who knows the mountain like the back of his hand. He and his team uphold deep-rooted community values and environmental respect.
Trek to Acatenango Base Camp: Traverse diverse ecosystems—from lush coffee fields to rare cloud forests—climbing through changing altitudes until we reach base camp at over 3,500 meters (11,800 ft) . As night falls, gather in cabins to watch Volcán Fuego explode with molten spectacle.
